Poster designed for Sound+Vision charity exhibition for Dublin’s David Bowie festival.
Taking influence from the soul and R&B music of the era that influenced Bowie’s move towards a "Plastic Soul" sound, the design also pays homage to the graphic design of the mid-70s era typified by Herb Lubalin’s typographic design and other visual elements such as the Soul Train logo (which Bowie appeared on, famously performing Fame from the album).
The use of ITC Avant Garde, which is one of the quintessential 70s typefaces, coupled with the lyrics and good ol’ red, white and blue design captures a feeling of both Bowie’s music and graphic design in the era.
