The Ladder of Planets

This is No Time To Lonesome

During the first Lockdown of 2020 we collaborated with artists and housemates Isadora Epstein and Aine K Byrne to create The Ladder of Planets. This nine-part cosmic telenovela was a way of keeping in touch with friends during a time of isolation as well as expanding the confined space of home into an imaginary outer space. 

We designed the animated title sequences for each episode which were set on a different planet each week and featured contributions sent in by people (artists, amateur actors, musicians and pets) from the safety of their homes and edited together into a cosmic and mythological epic.

The title typography was inspired by fantasies of a 70s, cosmic, wild west inhabited by eccentric greek gods. Each episode/planet had its own colour story, textures and details that we used for each title sequence. We also created a digital poster and social media assets each week to announce the new episode and, for the die-hard fans, we created a fine art print that was available to buy via the Creatives Against Covid initiative.
