The Big Idea encourages Transition Year students to think about how they can tackle some of society’s biggest problems. They work with schools to support teachers facilitate learning environments of creativity, innovation and critical thinking.
We were approached by The Big Idea to develop a website that would allow them to easily create and manage website content, seamlessly process supporters’ contributions and showcase the programme and its partners.
As an ideas competition is a big part of the programme each year, we enabled students to upload their project submissions directly to the website. We built a custom backend system to host the submissions which can be accessed by Mentors via a custom dashboard area. This allows them to view the projects, post their feedback during the initial pitch phase and grade the projects during the assessment phase.
Accessibility was an important consideration for this project particularly with regards to colour, usability and typography. This heavily influenced the brand’s overall look and feel and our decision making when refreshing the design of the website.
