Spaced Oddly – David Bowie Poster (2017)

We took part in the Sound & Vision Exhibition curated by Image Now Gallery, as part of the Bowie Festival. We were given Bowie’s iconic 1969 album ‘Space Oddity’.

We chose to create a typographic piece featuring the lyrics of the title track. The only characters featured are those which also corresponded to the musical notes C through B, and their position on the grid was determined by their location on the stave. The resulting outcome was a seemingly abstract assembly of characters which resembled the stars in the night sky.
