Solar Symphony was Ireland’s flagship New Year’s Eve countdown show for 2019. We created projection content for two buildings in Dublin City Centre, one being the iconic Custom House building, and visuals for an LED screen on a pontoon floating on the River Liffey. This was the largest outdoor project mapping project to take place in Ireland, with 18 high powered laser projectors in 5 separate locations on both sides of the Liffey.
The visuals played on the physical architecture of the structures creating a colourful transition of the building into a solar symphony of light and motion. The projections were supported by an original score, played by a live orchestra on the floating pontoon, and accompanied by laser beams and a moving light show.
The key challenge of the project was to create visuals that would work from the multiple projector locations, to create a dramatic viewing experience for attendees and a large audience watching on Television.
A team of multi-disciplinary designers and architectural technicians worked for several weeks to create a show that highlighted different features of the building, enhanced musical elements and complimented the production as a whole.
