Poetry Day Ireland

Poetry Day Ireland is a major annual one-day festival of poetry produced by Poetry Ireland. In 2019 the theme was Truth or Dare, with participants encouraged to ‘speak their truth, or dare to see the world differently.’

The design celebrates this idea of challenge and exploration. Themes are illustrated within a strict labyrinthian grid, the duality expressed by two distinct colours.

While the general theme of the day was communicated through posters and digital banners, individual ‘truth’, and ‘dare’ poster poems were displayed too, on public transport, in schools, and online.

A series of 14 postcard poems were also printed. The illustrations on the front of each derive from the ideas in the poems on the reverse, encouraging discovery, searching for meaning.
