The National College of Art & Design approached us to design a foamboard map to be mounted on the wall in their library. The map and shelf signs would be changed and updated every year with new information as books where moved around.
What we proposed was a perspex signage system that included compartments for interchangeable paper cards so books could be moved around without the need of completely replacing the printed map and shelf signs throughout the library. This ensured the map could always be relevant and staff could update it easily with minimal cost. It was built out of a layered fluorescent perspex construction so they were nice and easy to spot on the library’s blue shelves and would hopefully last many years.
