Over the last 16 years, we have developed a great working relationship with Concern Worldwide based on collaboration, open mindedness and trust. Our goal every time we design an Annual Report for Concern is to ensure that it delivers more than a simple explanation of the organisation’s activities and accounts for the previous year. Instead, the Report must speak to stakeholders, donors and policymakers in a fresh, unique and appropriate way – without being ostentatious.
As always, the cover design was of paramount importance, setting the tone for the interior. This year, the cover featured a series of cut-out small circles (a challenge for our printer) revealing colours from a world hunger map on the following page. Inside, the Report is presented in a stark clear, mostly imageless format, again to represent the clarity and direction that Concern beings to its work. We also included a 16 page section, printed on a contrasting, gloss stock, demonstrating Concern’s overseas programmes.
This approach to report design represents an evolutionary change – as opposed to a dramatic departure – that we bring to the Report every year, while always ensuring that it is an appropriate reflection of the organisation.
