Hosts With The Most: The Dock
Getting us in the mood, The Dock pulled out all the stops on the night with stellar hosting. Canapés and drinks were galore, and the space was looking gorgeous. Huge thanks to the team at The Dock who worked hard to make this happen. Without their kind support, the event never would have happened!
Welcome, All
Kicking off the event, Brian Nolan — co-founder of 100 Archive and Detail. Design Studio — welcomed everyone to the party and gave us a rundown of all things happening behind the scenes at 100 Archive.
Design Declares: An Emergency
100 Archive was delighted to provide a platform to Charlotte Barker and Lara Hanlon of Design Declares Ireland to give the community a preview of this new initiative which will empower designers across Ireland with climate-conscious, sustainability tools and practices. Design Declares Ireland will launch in November of this year in joint partnership with the IDI and 100 Archive so stay tuned for more and in the meantime give them a follow on Instagram or LinkedIn.
Designing at the Frontiers of Change
When planning the selection event, we wanted to create a space for discourse and engagement on things that might be top of mind for many of us working in the industry. Led by our steering member Anusia Grennell, we explored what it means to design on the frontiers of change with our amazing panelists Shane Casey of Accenture, Seán Boyle of unitmode, Kasia Ozmin of Together We Create, and Rory Hanrahan of Motherland. Topics discussed and projects showcased by the panelists touched on areas including the use of AI in design, the role of sustainability and the impact of design on the environment, and technological changes in advertising.
While nobody claimed to have the answers to the challenges we face due to shifts in technology or society, it was clear that as designers we have the unique opportunity to use "change" as a creative tool. So much inspiration and food for thought for everyone!
The 100
Speaking of inspiration, queue the main event itself: The 2022 Archive Selection. We would like to congratulate everyone whose project(s) were selected by the judges this past year. As always, it's no easy feat as the quality of design in this country and by Irish designers abroad is simply outstanding. And a huge thanks and kudos goes to all members who submitted projects. Even if your projects didn't make the selection, they're still part of 100 Archive's project list and we're immensely proud to showcase your work.
On that note, we are open for submissions ALL YEAR ROUND so if you have a 2023 project ready to submit then why not get to it? We will be making an official call for submissions toward the end of the year but as the famous idiom goes "the early bird catches the worm", or in this case, the earlier you submit your projects the less stressful it will be for everyone come January!
